Pentre Hall Reviews

Orlando
Pentre Hall itself is beautiful. It's old and characterful but at no cost to comfort or convenience. We visited in a cold February 6 degrees celsius and were never cold inside. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern without detracting from the feel of the place. The hot tub was lovely on a cold morning or after a long walk, and the wood burning stove in the living room kept us cozy in the evenings. There are excellent views from the property and grounds, reaching down the valley and over the distant hills covering Chirk aquadicut and Chirk castle. We came with a group of friends and it was comfortable to share between 10 as there 3 en suites and are 2 bathrooms. The rooms are all fairly equitable too we drew straws and the losers couldn't be upset!. James and Helen who live next door were wonderful hosts. James gave us great pub, food, and walk recommendations, the history of the house, and was always happy to help us out. He really went above and beyond! We set out from the house on foot to walk along Offa's dyke path, up to the Docks pub in Selattyn. The walk provided stunning views and we were lucky enough to have settled snow on the hill tops. The food and ales at the pub were great and very welcome after the steep ascent. Overall a fantastic stay, thank you!
A beautiful cottage within beautiful, scenic surroundings. The cottage is very clean, well equipped and perfect for a larger group. The owners are very helpful and gave us lots of information as to where to walk, where to eat etc. We would definitely recommend and would visit again!

My family and I were really happy with our 4 night stay just before Christmas. The house was beautifully decorated for the season and the rooms and amenities exceeded expectations. The beds were comfortable and all of the rooms were cozy and nicely furnished. There was a welcome basket in the kitchen when we arrived, and the host was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, as well as sharing a lot of the houses interesting history. Overall we had a great stay and wished wed had more time there.
Stunning place to spend the week in a beautiful part of the country! James and family were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful hosts, giving us a lot of detail on the house itself and the local area, and even decorating the house for christmas! A great place to relax! We had an amazing time and would definitely visit again.
My family and I stayed at Pentre Hall over Christmas and had the most wonderful time. James and Helen have a truly beautiful house, we arrived to it decorated beautifully for Christmas with festive touches like a festive greeting basket, Christmas handwash in the WC and little touches in each bedroom. They even got in touch prior to our visit to recommend local places and ask if we would like to have the Hot tub fired up before our arrival, great hosts! The house itself was very clean and comfortable for 10 of us and a dog, the beds were all very comfortable and the lounge cozy and comfy. There was great stock of amenities, everything we needed to cook with over our stay and towels for both showering and the hot tub. We used the hot tub which was lovely and very spacious and also all went off on some local walks to see the local area, again all was beautiful. There really were no negatives from us for this stay, we all had a thoroughly lovely time. Thank you
The house is fantastic there wasn't any more they could have done. It was all decorated for Christmas Evan down to kitchen roll and boxes of tissue in each room. We will definitely be back.
Lovely place. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Welcoming and helpful owners with good tips on local walks and places to visit. Would definitely visit again.
Fabulous property and host. Has everything you need and more in a beautiful location. Could not recommend highly enough.
Pentre Hall is a fantastic characterful house with a great modernised kitchen. The owners are lovely and have so much local knowledge you won't be short of great walks and places to eat. The hot tub was amazing and much appreciated after a long drive. Easily one of the best holiday cottages we've rented. Will definitely be back.
We had a lovely time at Pentre Hall in late September. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and full of character. The surrounding area was beautiful, with much to do, and the local people were warm and welcoming. Walks from the house were very picturesque, and the hillside view from the property was outstanding. The owner, James, was very welcoming, and was on hand to give good advice about the local area, and to sort out any issues if they were to arise. Pentre Hall proved to be an excellent rental property.
Michelle
We had the most amazing week in this beautiful house. We loved the peace and quiet, the views and how well equipped the house was. Thank you so much to James for all the information on the surrounding area. Lots of interest to see and do
Pentre Hall was a fabulous location to celebrate my wife's birthday with family and friends. Before arrival James the owner had provided really useful information about the Hall and the surrounding area including recommendations for things to do and places to eatdrink. The property is really well equipped and has lots of space both indoors and out. It's a historic building that has been fitted out to a high standard. We had great weather which was great to make the most of the wood fired hot tub, badminton set, large outdoor dining area and walks in the surrounding countryside.
Sylvia
The property has been sensitively restored and everything is of a very high standard. It is well equipped for large groups. Our group ages ranged from fifteen to eighty five and everyone had a wonderful time! The hot tub and badminton net were a great hit! The setting is idyllic and peaceful and the owner very helpful. Certainly a place to recommend and revisit.
Wonderful time had by all beautiful setting very peaceful
Rhonda
Lovely clean & well equipped house in a beautiful location, our Family had a great stay & would highly recommend staying here & exploring the area. The owner went above & beyond to make sure we had a good time & I would give an overall rating of 1010. Thank you.
We have just come back from the most wonderful break at Pentre Hall. The place and grounds were absolutely beautiful. James, the owner is lovely and so full of knowledge on the area. He was on hand when we arrived to tell us of all the lovely walks, pubs, restaurants and general places to visit. A lovely welcome hamper was left upon our arrival along with two bottles of prosecco wishing us a happy 25th wedding anniversary which was such a kind gesture. The house is furnished beautifully with every detail thought out and outside was so peaceful looking at the countryside and watching the sheep, whilst admiring the views from the wood fired hot tub. There was even a badminton net set up which all the family young and old enjoyed. I can't rate this place highly enough. It was a totally relaxing break but lots to do if you wanted to venture out. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Lovely place to stay, super helpful hosts and locals. Idyllic setting and historic but well maintained building.
Andrew
Perfect holiday home if you want to get together with family or friends lots of space to enjoy and all fixtures and fittings top quality. The bedrooms good size and very comfy all in all everything you need. James the owner on hand with lots of advice on the area and looks after the hot tub for you if needed all in all a great place to be.could not fault it anyway.
Michael
A fabulous and historic property, carefully restored and furnished with all quality fittings and equipment. A very warm welcome from our host. Magnificent location overlooking the valley with the famous viaduct and aqueduct and rising up to Chirk Castle. Faultless!

Wow what a beautiful house. Thank you James, an amazing host, so helpful and kind, providing a very thoughtful welcome hamper, and a warm hot tub. We all had a great time at the property for a family get together. The gardens are immaculate but we loved the wild grass area for the bees, and the fields with horses and sheep give stunning views. The rooms are all amazing, in keeping with the period of the house and very comfortable . Bathrooms are modern many rooms with en suites, clean and a pleasure to use,no problem with hot water. Plenty of Towels for the hot tub which is always a pleasure to use, but has lights at night, giving an extra special atmosphere. Also outside lighting which enhances the beauty of the property at night. We feel privileged to have stayed here, and truly hope to return. Thank you again James
Wow. What an absolutely beautiful cottage to stay in. Cottage is absolutely fab location, so well equipped, spotless, cosy and a hottub thrown in! We love a cottage that you can walk or cycle from the door and this cottage had it all. Country walks with Offas Dyke on its doorstep, river walks, canals, aqueducts etc. Lovely pubs to walk to like The Docks and we drove over to the Swan which was lovely and cosy. Chirk Castle is a lovely walk from the cottage and thats a gorgeous day out. When we saw it was a linked cottage to the owners home we did hesitate as we are never sure about that arrangement. Do not let that put you off, you are very separate and the owners could not have been more accommodating and welcoming, even giving us a lift back from the local pub after our long walk one evening. Beautiful, 5 stars for everything!
Thank you so much to James and family for a wonderful stay at Pentre Hall. The house is perfect for a large family gathering and we really appreciated all the advice with walks and enjoyed the history of the hall. The hot tub was very popular too! We will definitely be back again as it's a great location and great house.
We had the most beautiful weekend staying at this wonderful cottage. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a lovely welcome package that made us feel instantly at home. The cottage had everything you need and more, and it even provided lots of information on where things are, making our stay effortless. The setting itself was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and full of character. The hosts were incredibly informative, welcoming, and truly attentive, which made our stay even more special. It was the perfect escape, and wed love to come back. Thank you so much for such a fantastic stay!
Such a special property. We had a lovely stay and we would highly recommend.
Melanie
We all had such a wonderful stay at Pentre Hall. There is nothing at all to fault about this beautiful property, it's grounds and facilities. This is an old building, full of character and history but yet it has everything you will need to make your stay perfect. That said, about it's age, it was spotlessly clean even in places you'd expect to see a bit of dust. The kitchen is modern and really well stocked the best selection of every glass you'll need, the bedrooms are gorgeously decorated with such comfortable beds and bed linen. We really enjoyed the wood fired hot tub too. Great location near to Chrik and Llangolen, with some great eateries nearby. We tackeld the 4 hour walk taking in the aqueductviaduct, tunnels and Chirk Castle ask James for walk maps, visited nearby Blue Planet Aqarium and also Llangolen, which was plenty to do in our 4 days there. Overall a 1010 from us and I'm sure we will return. Thank you James for being such a welcoming and informative host and for allowing us to share your lovely and very interesting family home x
We have stayed in many houses in the past as a family of 10 and this one is now our favourite. Fabulous place to stay, equipped excellently and extremely clean and comfortable and what a generous welcome pack. Great hosts, nothing seems to be too much trouble and very knowledgeable of the area. Lots of walks on the doorstep or a short drive away. We will definitely be returning in the future.
An excellent stay in a beautiful property. Stunning views and extremely helpful hosts. Thank you
Louise
This is a special place. My family, spanning three generations, and I spent a week over New Year in comfort and style loving every minute. Our host, James, could not have been more helpful or kind, pointing us in the right direction for several local walks from the house, providing all the supplies we needed for the hot tub and wood burners and making sure we were comfortable. The house is full of character and charm being beautifully maintained and furnished. We all appreciated the extremely comfortable beds, linen and large soft towels. It was warm and cosy with a homely feel. The kitchen was a pleasure to use with high quality and ample equipment. Set in a tranquil, rural location yet with easily accessible amenities and activities, there was something for everyone. Indeed we plan to return to see more. I cannot recommend a stay in Pentre Hall enough. Thank you James.
Christmas stay 2024 This is the most perfect place for friends and family to gather to celebrate Christmas. The property is amazing and steeped in history the owner James is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of the property. The property is extremely well appointed with everything you could possibly need and when decorated for Christmas is truly magical. The hot tub is fantastic for relaxation and the views from the garden are spectacular Plenty of walks and attractions nearby. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this property. Even our dog had great fun on the local walks and was catered for with doggy treats!
From the moment of booking, James provided us with lots if information re places to visit and places to eat along with some history of this beautiful house. On arrival we were made to feel welcome by Helen. A hamper of goodies awaited us and every small detail was catered for. Hot tub was ready for use, towels were provided along with doggy towels, tissues in every room, torches in case of a power cut and ample toilet rolls and hand soap. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We loved learning about the history of the house and the area and we highly recommend this property and would definitely book again. Thank you James and Helen for letting us use your beautiful home.
Beautiful house located in a stunning part of England. It was extremely comfortable, very well appointed and the owner James was very welcoming and helpful. We followed their advice about booking a pub for Sunday Lunch and had an excellent meal at The Docks at Selattyn too. Cant fault this one in any way! Thank you so much.
A hidden gem. We had a wonderful family weekend at Pentre Hall, it was a perfect base for our time in Shropshire. Beautiful setting, intriguing and handsome historic house with all modern facilities. Everything we could have wished for including a generous welcome pack. James was incredibly informative and helpful both before and during our stay. His local knowledge certainly enhanced our visit. Have already recommended Pentre Hall to family and friends.

We were looking for a long weekend, something close to nature, walks and activities. Somewhere we could all go together as a family and friends, which included 2 pet dogs, a puppy guide dog, a toddler and adults. Somewhere we could host a murder mystery dinner party. But somewhere we would each have our own space without feeling on top of eachother. We found all of this and more at Pentre Hall Bronygarth! James & Helen are fantastic hosts. They have thought of all the fine details within the property and in the gardens too. Their communication before and during the stay was brilliant and they were more than happy to assist us with anything we needed. Each bedroom was spacious, each of our guests had their own bedroom with an en suite shower room and the 2 King Size rooms shared the family bathroom. There is a downstairs toilet. Log burning fires. 2 lounge areas and a huge dining area. Outside there is lots of space for the dogs to run around. Plus a gorgeous wood burning hot tub. Some of my favourite and unexpected details Tissue box in each room Separate towels for hot tub. Blankets towels for dogs. Essentials in the bathroom. Lots of games and books. Badminton net and rackets outside. Lovely welcome hamper. Washing up and laundry essentials Ample toilet rolls. Fully equipped kitchen with super fast oven. I would recommend this stay to any type of family as it has something to suit everyone's needs and interests.
Patricia

This is an exceptional vacation property it's beautifully renovated, truly historic, located in a glorious part of the country, and run by very friendly, thoughtful, and helpful owners. The whole family enjoyed every aspect of our tenday stay. The house is comfortably furnished, spacious, and very well equipped the hot tub is a lot of fun and the summer house, garden, games and books were truly appreciated.
